From the 21st to the 24th of September 2010 in Frankfurt
Arthur Schopenhauer’s philosophy is in very many ways „open minded“. It is a) open to different cultures, religions and perspectives ; b) open to the different expressions of the spiritual world, to sciences, arts and religion and c) open to a variety of further developments. With the general emphasis being placed on these intercultural phenomena, interdisciplinary studies and modernity in Schopenhauer’s philosophy 9 themes are to be addressed that will be spread out over 10 sittings : 1. Ethics 2. Aesthetics 3. Metaphysics 4. Natural sciences 5. Hermeneutics 6. Psychology 7. Asiatic philosophies 8. Religion 9. Mysticism. We are calling for 30 minute presentations which relate to these different fields. The languages of the congress are German, English and French. The closing date for the submission of manuscripts, which are to be headed with a 10 line abstract, is the 31. May, 2010. The papers are to be sent to the Schopenhauer Forschungsstelle, Universität Mainz, 55099 Mainz.
